To Stay or Not to Stay?

We fully expected to stay another night in Notre Dame de Monts. It was such a pretty place and we loved walking along the sea front and on the beach with the dogs. On Monday morning, we got up, walked the dogs through the pine forest and then left them to sleep while we walked into town to look for provisions. It came as a shock to discover that nothing was open except the boulangerie. Not a fishmonger, butcher, supermarket or even coffee shop was open. We were a bit downcast as we peered into the fridge and found only some cheese and a tomato. We seriously considered eating out in the evening but it looked likely that only the moules and frites place would be open and we wanted something more substantial, so, we packed up the van and set off into the countryside near La Roche sur Yon where there was a campsite still open that boasted a pool.

This is the beauty of motorhoming, you can change your plans on a whim. We stopped off at Intermarché for provisions, filled up with diesel and turned up at the campsite where we were given a choice of huge pitches, the promise of a warm pool and washing machines. Sometimes you just have to do your laundry but if you can do it in a place where the sun shines and there’s not a cloud in the sky it’s not so bad.

It's not so bad...
It’s not so bad…
Heaven!
it’s heaven!

Poppy was put back in the van for bad behaviour (barking at anything that moved)  so  she glowered  at us from the front seat, making her feelings very clear.

Shirley had the BBQ out in record time and soon we were enjoying turkey piri piri with salad, couscous and a cold beer.

I am completely content.
