Really good beach campsite if you want a few days chilling beside a beautiful beach.
We thought the manager, Shane, was wonderful. He had his eye on everything and kept things in order in a most efficient and cheery manner. We also had a chat with the owner who was very friendly and welcoming.
Facilities are good and, joy of joys, you get a water tap next to your electric point and there is a very good waste dump for motorhomes and an efficient CDP. There is a great little shop, Flossie’s Beach Store, next door where you can get essentials, ice cream and other treats. We loved it.
As far as a place to stop on the NC500 it is a bit out of your way. The route from Lochinver is 6 miles of single track with a number of blind corners and summits, making it a bit of a scary ride for a big van. Shane advised us not to go round via Drumbeg back to the main route, so we retraced our steps to Lochinver.
We give it 9/10 because it isn’t easy for motorhomes to get around in the area meaning that you are very weather dependent. Otherwise perfect.
To sum up, great place for touring if you have a car, motorbike, electric bikes or you’re a strong cyclist, otherwise great for a rest and you love beach sites.
